Access and Site Closure

Site access for the general public including: California State University Monterey Bay students, faculty and staff; recreational users; and others will be restricted to access corridors which may be closed at times due to munitions remediation is taking place as part of the FORA ESCA Remediation Program.

When and where closure of an access corridor is necessary, alternate routes will be developed. Alternate routes will ensure:

  • As much unrestricted use as possible;
  • Citizen and worker safety;
  • Continuation of permitted events and activities as planned.

The FORA ESCA Remediation Program will work closely with event planners to ensure events can continue as planned. Outreach will be conducted to inform the public, especially people most likely to be impacted by access corridor closures, as early and as often as possible. Information on access corridor closures will be made available through this web site and:

  • Signs along access routes
  • Notices in the local media
  • Announcements on the Fort Ord Users' Google Group
